About the Guest Speaker – Jahangir Siddiqui

Mr. Jahangir Siddiqui is a Pakistani business tycoon who is the founder of eponymous conglomerate JS Group. Siddiqui started his career as a chartered accountant but later became a stock market investor and trader before founding his own firm. Today his founded firm, the JS Group of companies includes businesses that are a part of JS Financial, JS Industrial, JS Infocom, JS Property, JS Resources, and JS Transportation. JS Financial is the oldest of the group's businesses and includes Jahangir Siddiqui & Co. Ltd., JS Global Capital Limited, JS Bank Limited, JS Investments Limited, and Bank Islami.

Key Points of Session

Mr. Jahangir Siddiqui has joined the Pak100 bootcamp II, 2021 on 13 august. The topics of his session was “Successful Entrepreneur Story Telling”. The session held for 1 hr and 40 minutes.

He started his session by saying ‘According to me Entrepreneurship is a noble profession, I think its God gifted skill”. He started his life story from his school life. He explained how he started his first business of selling coke and also mentioned that he didn’t have money to start this business as he was unable to find the way to start it.

There were two choices either to leave the idea of business or to explore other all possible ways. He started selling things from home to get enough money to start the business his father also helped him out to arrange remaining money. He named his business “Dream land Cold Coffee Bar”.  He supplied Coke all over the Hyderabad then 7up. He explained, how he started business of each thing he required in his business and were not available in Hyderabad.

He talked about the successful business and downfall too that after two years Coca cola opened the industry in Hyderabad and on other hand, he got failed in three subjects in intermediate that was the time when his business stopped. After this he spent many years in different businesses like bicycle, laundry, fishing, and transport-related business. After completion of B.Com, he got enrolled in chartered accountancy in Karachi, where he started working at stock exchange and in a year earned almost two lacs in 1968. He availed all the opportunities he got throughout his life. He founded JS bank, bought American Express bank, created JS investment company and many more.

He said to participants it’s not important to get succeed in every business. Its all about timing to avail opportunity to start business and get exit from it once it’s hard to sustain. He gave an example of ant how it tries at every fall. He also added if you are right and have determination then Allah will surely help you out.
